WHAT IS ARGAN OIL?
Argan oil is pressed from the nut of the fruit of the Argan Tree, which is mainly found in Morocco. The Argan tree lives to be about 150 to 200 years old and does not start producing the fruit until it is 30 to 50 years old. Because the tree is found only in a limited area, the oil itself is quite rare.
Argan oil is a multipurpose product, remarkable for the wide range of its uses. It is extracted from the seed kernels of the argan tree. The traditional method of extracting argan oil involves removing the outer pulpy layer, cracking the fruits, accessing the seeds, toasting them for increased flavor and grinding them. The ground nut is then pressed to extract maximum argan oil.
Indeed, production of argan oil is a time-consuming and difficult process, and the yield is quite low. However, the resulting oil is rich in essential fatty acids, vitamin E, carotenoids, prostaglandins, ferulic acid, polyphenols and many other nutrients.
Argan oil comes loaded with vitamin E & essential fatty acids like linoleic acid. This makes it well-known for its anti-aging, moisturizing and antioxidant properties.
It has been scientifically proved that this oil is able to correct the age related deficiencies in skin that causes dehydration and loss of skin elasticity. It is found to contain high concentration of tocopherols. This oil has a natural antioxidant effect. This helps neutralize the free radicals and protects the soft tissue. The nutrient content of the skin is restored with the help of topical application. It also has vitamin A, omega 6 and 9 unsaturated fatty acids. These components further add to the antioxidant factor. There are many argan oil benefits that help cure a number of skin, hair and other medical ailments.
